Job SummaryWe are seeking an intellectually curious, collaborative, and detail-oriented Revenue Accountant to join our Accounting team. This critical role will help own the Company’s revenue accounting processes and serve as an important supporting operational role for billing and revenue operations. The revenue accountant will be a subject matter expert in ensuring the Company’s compliance with all aspects of ASC 606. This position will be out of our Salt Lake City office (on site).
Reports to: Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

  • Ensure revenue transactions are properly accounted for in accordance with ASC 606 
  • Oversee monthly close procedures for revenue to ensure timely and accurate closing of the books for internal and external reporting
  • Review revenue and expense recognition entries and post monthly journal entries
  • Maintain and perform revenue-related account reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Drive process improvement for data accuracy and efficiency
  • Communicate with external auditors for year-end audit and provide current and accurate supporting documentation
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting dataAssist with audits and other more complex projects
  • Responsible for developing and documenting revenue accounting policy documents, including working with external auditors to review and update periodically
  • Analyze and establish fair pricing in accordance with ASC 606 for software and service items on a quarterly basis
  • Ensure sales tax is being collected and remitted to taxing authorities as required
  • Calculate sales commissions and ensure costs are tracked properly against sales contracts

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP and applicable revenue guidance (ASC 606)
  • Experience with Enterprise SaaS business models including experience with revenue recognition
  • Maintain great relationships with business partners (Sales, Legal, and Sales Operations) and accounting peers to address accounting and operational needs
  • Technical aptitude—Experience with Sage Intacct, salesforce, AvaTax a plus
  • Advanced experience using MS Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Extensive verbal and written communication

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a SaaS-based business model
  • Revenue recognition accounting experience
