Let's be honest about what qualifying a lead has looked like. Somewhere on the intake form is half the story. The rest is buried in a call log, a message thread, and a pile of uploaded documents that nobody's read because reading them is somebody else's problem until, suddenly, it's yours.

So your intake team plays detective. They open tabs. They cross-reference. They form a hunch, and the quality of that hunch depends entirely on who's doing the hunching and how much coffee they've had. It works, technically. It just doesn't scale, and it definitely doesn't sleep.

Lead Docket ends the detective work. Four new capabilities now work as one connected system: your documents get read automatically, then organized automatically, you can ask a chat assistant anything about a lead, and (coming soon) every lead gets a straight answer on whether it's worth taking. Each piece makes the next one smarter. Think less "four new features" and more "the moment the lights come on."

Here's what's new

Your documents can finally read themselves

Available now. Every file that lands on a lead, whether it is a PDF, an image, or that slightly crooked scan of a medical record, gets read the second it arrives. The text inside becomes searchable, quotable, and usable by everything else in Lead Docket.

Until now, an uploaded document was basically a locked drawer: technically it held something useful, but only if a human walked over and opened it. Those days are done. And because all of this happens quietly in the background, your uploads stay as fast as they've always been, with no spinning wheel and no waiting around.

  • Handles the whole stack: PDFs, JPGs, PNGs, and TIFFs, all read on arrival.
  • Unlocks the drawer: Document contents become searchable and ready for AI to work with.
  • No tax on your time: It reads in the background, so uploads stay instant.

Folders that actually follow the lead home

Available now. The documents tab has folders now, and when you push a lead to Filevine, that tidy structure comes along for the ride instead of staying behind.

Before this, every document piled into one long, flat list, and converting a lead meant rebuilding your folder structure by hand on the Filevine side. Every. Single. Time. It was the digital equivalent of unpacking a suitcase someone else deliberately jumbled. Now you set the structure once and it just travels.

  • Organize on the fly: Drop files straight into a folder, or drag them where they belong.
  • Do it once: Set up a global folder template once in settings.
  • Arrives packed: Documents land in Filevine already sorted, with no re-folding required.

Ask LOIS: the colleague who's actually read the whole file

Available now. Ask LOIS brings Filevine's AI assistant right into the lead as a chat panel. It already knows the lead you're looking at, including the form fields, the messages, the notes, the history, and now the text inside those documents, so you can just ask.

"Summarize this lead." "What's the next step here?" "Draft a follow-up." LOIS handles all of it. Stuck on a how-do-I question? It'll pull real answers from the Lead Docket help center and cite its sources, rather than confidently making something up. And when LOIS gives you something worth keeping, one click saves it to the lead as a note, so the good thinking sticks around instead of vanishing when you close the window.

  • Actually informed: It's read the whole lead, documents included.
  • Shows its work: How-to answers come with cited support articles, not guesses.
  • Keep the good stuff: Save any response as a lead note in one click.

One ground rule: LOIS suggests and drafts, you decide and act. It's a very capable assistant, not a loose cannon.

Lead Viability: a straight answer, coming soon

Coming soon (in development). This is the one we're most excited about. Lead Viability reads everything on a lead and gives you a clear call: Qualify, Review, or Reject. No fence-sitting.

The old prediction model only ever had opinions about MVA leads, and it politely ignored anything it couldn't fit in a form field. Lead Viability reads the whole record across every practice area, from PI and mass tort to employment, med-mal, and immigration, and tells you not just what it decided, but why, in plain bullet points.

  • A real decision: Qualify / Review / Reject, on every lead, in every practice area.
  • No black box: Plain-language factors so you can see its reasoning.

Lead Viability is still in development. Once it has completed scrupulous testing against real lead data, it will become available for general use.

The real trick: it's all one record

Any one of these features would be a nice upgrade on its own. The reason they add up to something bigger is that they all work on the same lead, at the same time.

A document your client uploads gets read by OCR, filed by Folders, understood by Ask LOIS, and weighed by Lead Viability, all without ever leaving Lead Docket or making a round trip through some other system.

Picture it: a new lead shows up with a medical record attached. OCR reads it on arrival. Folders tuck it into the right place, ready for Filevine. Your coordinator opens the lead and sees a viability call right at the top, with every point traced back to where it came from, including a line OCR just lifted from that record. Curious about the fine print? Your coordinator asks LOIS, "What's the policy limit on that declaration page?" and gets an answer, no squinting at a PDF required. What used to be a cold read across four tabs is now a decision you can trust and a question you can ask out loud.

Who's going to love this

If your firm runs real lead volume across several practice areas (PI, mass tort, employment, med-mal, immigration, family law) and your intake team is stretched thin trying to triage all of it evenly, Lead Docket was built with you in mind. Basically: if anyone on your team has ever opened four tabs to make one decision, consider this our gift to them.
