What do you pay reporters?
How quickly do you pay reporters?
When you agree to our standard rate sheet, payment is made within 3–5 business days of submitting your transcript and invoice. On a negotiated rate, payment is made within 30 days.
Do you wait to pay reporters until the firm pays you?
No. You're paid as soon as you submit your transcript and invoice and not when the firm's accounts payable cycle clears.
Will Filevine replace stenographers with digital reporters or AI?
No. Filevine views licensed stenography as the gold standard for high-stakes proceedings. In states like California and Washington, we work exclusively with stenographic reporters for all depositions. Where digital reporting is permitted by state rule, it's offered selectively, client-driven, appropriately noticed, and the digital reporter states their role and method of capture on the record.
Who certifies the transcript?
You do. Certified court reporters are individually responsible for the accuracy and certification of their transcripts in accordance with state law and professional standards. Filevine does not certify transcripts. Every certified transcript lists the reporter of record.
What is Depo CoPilot, and does it affect my work as the reporter?
Depo CoPilot is an attorney-facing tool that helps lawyers prepare for and analyze depositions — setting goals, tracking if were met, guiding follow-up questions. It doesn't touch your record, your transcript, or your certification. It's built for the attorney's prep, not to substitute for your work.
