Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

Reports to Manager of Quality

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibly drive complex projects forward to completion
  • Exercise independent judgement
  • Make informed recommendations to management
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to other engineers
  • Design and implement automated test frameworks
  • Perform expert code reviews
  • Independently identify opportunities for automated testing at different levels (unit, integration, UI, etc)
  • Independently identify areas of improvement and possible solutions
  • Design and write test plans and test cases
  • Be part of an on-call rotation with other team members to provide release and escalated emergency support
  • Communicate frequently, clearly, and effectively with various technical and management audiences on usability and serviceability and suggested changes
  • Analyze and improve the scalability, performance, and efficiency of the testing pipeline
  • Build solutions to aid in automated and load testing

Knowledge and Skills

  • 8+ years working as a software engineer or test engineer
  • 5+ years working as a automated test engineer desired
  • Expert in an object oriented language such as C# or Java
  • Proficient in MSSQL, Javascript
  • Complete understanding of application development life cycle
  • Expert understanding of advanced techniques such as stubbing and mocking
  • Expert understanding of source control systems and CI/CD Pipelines
  • Expert understanding of automated testing frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver
  • Expert work testing REST Web Services
  • Expert use of with Postman, Fiddler or similar tools
  • Expert use of Test Management tools such X-Ray, HPQC
  • Experience with OWASP and security principals
  • Experience with load testing tools and techniques
  • Expert knowledge of QA Testing Techniques


  • B.S. or M.S in computer science, information systems, a related field; comparable certifications; or equivalent direct work experience
